A Preview of the upcoming NMC 2015 conference in Orlando

Are you headed to Orlando for this year's Nursing Management Congress 2015 conference?  Hosted and sponsored by Wolters Kluwer, this year's event promises to be an interactive experience. Organizers see it as a way for participants to transition from reading the pages of the award-winning Nursing Management journal to experiencing real time face-to-face meeting and collaboration opportunities among the best thought leaders in the field.

This year’s program will be held at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from October 13-17, 2015. Registrations are still open. The premier conference for nurse leaders, Nursing Management Congress 2015 offers something substantial for nurse leaders at every level and in every practice setting. Sessions and speaker topics have been designed to help nurse managers strengthen their practical and critical thinking skills, so that they can improve the overall quality of patient care.

Attendee Feedback Prompted Changes to Program

“Attendee feedback is of the utmost importance to the [organizer] panel and after review of NMC 2014’s evaluations, we made some exciting changes and additions to this year’s event,” wrote Jeffrey Doucette, DNP, RN, CEN, FACHE, NEA-BC, Nursing Management Congress 2015 Conference Chairperson, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News, VA.

Doucette listed several new sessions based on past years’ feedback, such as the Experienced Nurse Leader Intensive Preconference Workshop, Ambulatory Care, and Simulation. He said that the conference is also focusing on wellness for mind and body. Each morning, attendees can participate in health wellness sessions, including “Yoga and Rhythm & Funk” workouts.

Inspiring Speakers and Innovative Sessions

New speakers this year include experts from around the country who will share their knowledge and expertise on cutting-edge and “hot topics” pertinent to today’s nurse managers, such as initiating culture change, cultivating courage and confidence, flourishing and living well in a demanding environment, finding out what nurses really want in a leader and more. Among some of the special presentations is a high-energy, multi-media Keynote session by The Afterburner team of current and former U.S. Fighter Pilots, called “Plan. Brief. Execute. Debrief = Win: A Fighter Pilot’s Secret to Success.

The opening session will present a real-life, inspirational and emotional portrayal of American nurses in the documentary, “The American Nurse Project.”  Director and Executive Producer Carolyn Jones aims to elevate the voice of nurses in this country by capturing their personal stories through photography and film.

Throughout the meeting, nurse management leaders will have countless opportunities for learning, networking, as well as professional and personal growth.

Learn About Tools of the Trade

As always, Nursing Management Congress 2015 gives attendees a chance to interact directly with exhibitors who are showcasing products and services to increase quality of care, decrease costs, improve effectiveness and efficiency of staff, and provide accurate documentation. Because the exhibit hours do not compete with the educational offerings, attendees can roam the exhibit hall without worrying they’ll miss an important session or event. The exhibits will kick-off with an evening Welcome Reception on Wednesday, October 14, immediately following the Opening General Session.

Continuing Education Credits

Attendees can earn up to 16 contact hours through Wolters Kluwer / Lippincott,  publisher of Nursing Management journal. The 16 contact hours are for the main conference only; however a maximum of 30 contact hours can be earned if you also participate in a 2-day pre-conference workshop. An accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Commission on Accreditation, LWW contact hours are valid no matter where you reside. This activity is also provider-approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 11749. LWW is also an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the District of Columbia and Florida #50-1223.
